Since the news broke last Saturday that Cam Newton had tested positive for COVID-19, we hadn't heard anything about his coronavirus test results since then.
Until Sunday morning that is. On FOX NFL Sunday, Jay Glazer reported that Newton has not yet had two consecutive negative tests, and that he was still testing positive late in the week.
A player who is asymptomatic, as Newton reportedly has been, needs two consecutive negative tests in a 24-hour span to return, or could return 10 days after their first positive if they remain asymptomatic and are cleared by medical professionals.
According to Glazer, Newton had an "outside chance" to play this Monday against the Broncos. Now that the game has been postponed and moved to next Sunday, Newton's chances to play will certainly increase as long as he remains asymptomatic.
