Patriots tight end Austin Hooper has reportedly signed a new deal that will keep him in Foxborough for quarterback Drake Maye's sophomore season.
"Two-time Pro-Bowl TE Austin Hooper is returning to New England on a one-year, $5 million deal with a max value of $7M, per source," ESPN's Adam Schefter posted on X Sunday evening.
Hooper's latest contract is a step up from the one-year, $3.125 million terms he signed with New England last March.
He appeared in all 17 games last season and started eight, tallying 45 catches for 476 yards and three touchdowns. The upcoming season will be his tenth in the NFL. He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 2016, where he played four years, before moving onto Cleveland for another two. Notably, Hooper played for Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel in Tennessee in 2022, and for Josh McDaniels in Las Vegas in 2023.
Hooper will rejoin fellow veteran tight end Hunter Henry, who signed a 3-year, $27 million contract last March.
