Jedd Fisch's stay in Foxboro will be a short one.

According to multiple reports, the Patriots quarterbacks coach will be named the next head coach at the University of Arizona, with an official announcement expected on Wednesday. ESPN's Adam Schefter and Field Yates were the first to report the news.

This will be the first head-coaching job for the 44-year-old Fisch, who joined the Patriots before this season after previously holding various offensive coaching jobs with the Los Angeles Rams, UCLA, University of Michigan, Jacksonville Jaguars and University of Miami, among other stops.

It was a quick search for Arizona, who fired Kevin Sumlin on Dec. 12 after an 0-5 season that culminated with an embarrassing 70-7 loss to rival Arizona State.

Had Fisch stayed in New England, he could have been a candidate to be the next offensive coordinator/play-caller if current offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels leaves for an NFL head-coaching job after the season.
