While Rob Gronkowski is currently a member of the Buccaneers, New England will always be special to the tight end as it is where his career began, and where he accomplished the most.
On Friday, during a press conference held by Massachusetts governor Charlie Baker along the Charles River Esplanade, Gronkowski presented a $1.2 million check to the Esplanade Association and Massachusetts Department of Conservation.
It will go towards fully renovating the Charlesbank Playground and legislation has already been filed to rename it, Gronk Playground.
"No matter where I go or where I live, I will always have a special connection to New England and the people who live here," Gronkowski said, via Patriots.com.
He added: "The Patriots taught me the importance of giving back from the very first day I stepped in that organization. A huge shout out to Mr. Kraft and the Patriots for instilling that into me and showing me the importance of what it's like to give back."
