Robert Kraft is working to combat the disturbing rise of antisemitism in American popular discourse, from Kanye West’s disgusting ramblings to Kyrie Irving unapologetically boosting an anti-semitic documentary.
One of Kraft’s organizations, the Foundation for Combatting Antisemitism, funded an ad that aired during the early window of Sunday’s NFL games on CBS, including Patriots-Jets. The spot denounces hateful rhetoric before including the sobering statistic that there are less than 8 million Jewish people in the U.S. — far fewer than the number of people who watch a typical NFL game.
“They need you to add your voice,” the ad says.
Kraft, an ardent philanthropist and supporter of Jewish causes, founded the FCAS in 2019. For many years, the Patriots owner has led a group of current and past Patriots players to Jerusalem for an annual pilgrimage.
On Saturday, an antisemitic message was projected onto the exterior of TIAA Banks Field in Jacksonville after Saturday’s game between Georgia and Florida. Jaguars owner Shad Khan issued a statement denouncing the rhetoric.
