Tony Romo looks ahead to Super Bowl LV: One of the greatest matchups in sports history

Super Bowl LV between Tom Brady's Buccaneers and Patrick Mahomes' Chiefs should be a fantastic game.

In fact, CBS Sports' Tony Romo, who will be part of the broadcast, believes it's one of the greatest matchups in sports history.

“This is going to be one of the great matchups in sports history,” he said on a media conference call Thursday. “This is what you talk about with your friends. Could you imagine if Michael Jordan got his team to the Finals against LeBron — who is becoming the face of the league? We’re getting that in this Super Bowl.”

Brady will be going for his seventh title and Romo believes Mahomes is the only quarterback who could ever one day challenge that feat.

“[Mahomes] is the only kid that is going to be in the discussion,” he said. “This is the matchup people will be talking about 25 to 50 years from now. As a football fan, this is as good as it gets. This one is really special.”

Romo added: “The fact that Patrick Mahomes is somehow in this discussion shows you how amazing this guy is. There’s a chance for Patrick Mahomes playing this game, to climb the ladder. If Mahomes wins, he keeps that door open. If Brady wins, I don’t know how anyone can top him.”

Brady and Mahomes have faced each other four times in their careers, each winning two games, all of which have been decided by seven or fewer points. In addition, Mahomes' teams have scored 121 points, while Brady's teams have scored 120.
