Though his trade status was buried in the Aaron Rodgers rumor landslide leading up to the 2021 NFL Draft, from a Patriots perspective 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo certainly still remains a more likely trade option for Bill Belichick and Co.

But according to one report, Garoppolo isn’t going to be traded to New England on draft night or even “any time soon.”

NFL Network reports that even if San Francisco and Belichick were able to come to terms on a deal for Garoppolo – who was drafted by New England and played his first three-plus NFL seasons in Foxborough – it would take “a complex contract negotiation to get it done.”

Garoppolo is indeed owed more than $25 million in salary for 2021 and has a no-trade clause as part of his contract that further complicates any would-be trade.
