Stephon Gilmore will not be a member of the Patriots by the end of the day Wednesday, but how that happens remains up in the air.
On Wednesday morning, it was reported the Patriots will be releasing the 31-year-old cornerback. But, the move won't become official until 4 p.m., so there's still the chance of him being traded.

The Patriots apparently tried to trade him Tuesday.
According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, the team called "a small group of teams they trust," but a deal did not happen because of the asking price and Gilmore's desire for a new deal. Now that word is out to the rest of the league that he's available, more offers could come in before 4 p.m.
As for which teams could be interested, keep an eye on the Packers.
Multiple reports say they are among the favorites, and wide receiver Davante Adams commented on Gilmore's Instagram post Wednesday by saying, "Call me."
It seems likely Gilmore would want to go to a contending team, so the Packers make sense along with the Buccaneers and possibly the Panthers considering that is the area he's from.
