How anyone could be unhappy with the Patriots picking Mac Jones is beyond me. The guy IS Tom Brady.

That is the same description of Brady when he came out of Michigan. It is undisputable. Jones actually – obvi – has more credentials than Brady coming out of college. Stats through the roof and a national title. He is the perfect quarterback for this team. Period. End of story. I like him better than Jimmy Garoppolo. Bill’s pet rock is always hurt, and I think it’s cool for the Patriots to start fresh. As a matter of fact, I want Michael McCorkle Jones to start week one. He won’t of course because Bill doesn’t want to lose the locker room by not giving Newton another shot. Plus, the right move may be to sit the rookie for a bit and if Newton fails then put him in. But I have seen enough of Cam. I want the new toy. I want the next Tom Brady.

I had to catch myself there. Who knows if this guy will be even close to Brady? I mean, who will be, right? But I do know that this team has had success – lots of it – with this type of quarterback before and if you look at the offensive additions made in the off-season Jones is a perfect fit. They brought back Trent Brown, hired two very good tight ends and a couple good, not great, receivers.
Side bar – I am predicting a breakout year for Kendrick Bourne (though I keep forgetting his name and just had to look up ... again).
Back to the action. Mac also has two very good running backs in Damien Harris and James White. James White – will save McCorkle’s butt plenty.
So, let’s celebrate the fact that the Patriots have the next Tom Brady ... for now.
