Former 2020 third-round pick Devin Asiasi will officially be a Patriot no more.
ESPN's Mike Reiss reported Wednesday afternoon that the Cincinnati Bengals claimed the tight end off of waivers after Asiasi failed to make the Patriots' 53-man roster.
Reiss added Asiasi was at Gillette Stadium preparing to be named to the Patriots' practice squad when it was announced he was going to the Bengals. He will join Cincinnati's 53-man roster.
The former highly drafted tight end didn't do much in New England, catching just two passes for 39 yards in regular-season action. But if he sticks around long enough to endear himself to Joe Burrow, that Asiasi Revenge Game on December 24 could be fun.
Per Reiss, no other Patriots player waived yesterday was claimed by another team.
