Jon Lyons filled in for Rich Keefe on Friday night alongside Mike Kadlick and the two spent much of the show breaking down the failures that led to the Patriots being one of the worst teams in the NFL through six weeks this season. The chief reason, according to the guys, was a string of inconsistent drafts starting in 2017.

The guys went through the Patriots’ recent draft history and found a dearth of impact players. Listen to the full segment above beginning at the 16:50 mark.

Said Lyons: “You look at these drafts, and this is one, two, three, four, five, six, seven drafts…I came up with four consistently impactful players from those seven drafts: Kyle Dugger, [Rhamondre] Stevenson, who I know is having a down year now, Christian Gonzalez, and Demario Douglas. From seven drafts, we are looking at four impact players.”
