“Keeping our fingers crossed that we get the vote this year,” Patriots head coach told the media in Green Bay on Tuesday as the team awaited an important announcement about their long-time owner.
Unfortunately, they didn’t get it.
Robert Kraft, along with 10 other contestants, were beaten out by former Lions and Steelers head coach Buddy Parker for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Parker will enter the hall in 2024, representing the coach/contributor category.
Parker beat out Tom Coughlin, Robert Craig, Kraft, Dan Reeves, Art Rooney Jr., Marty Schottenheimer, Mike Shanahan, Clark Shaughnessy, Lloyd Wells, John Wooten and Frank “Bucko” Kilroy in the vote. He won two NFL championships in 15 seasons of coaching and posted a career record of 107-76-9 (.582). Included in that total is a 3-1 record in the postseason.
As for Kraft, the New England Patriots have flourished under his reign, winning six Super Bowls, 10 AFC Championships, and sporting a 33-13 record in postseason play.
While Kraft was snubbed in 2023, it still remains when, not if, he’ll eventually get into the Hall.
