The Patriots didn't play on Sunday, but it was still a good day for them.
With Buffalo's loss to the Colts -- an embarrassing 41-15 loss at home -- the Patriots are now in first place in the AFC East.
New England is 7-4 on the season, while Buffalo falls to 6-4. The two teams haven't played yet this year and will meet Dec. 6 in Buffalo and then Dec. 26 in New England.
The Patriots also got some help in the conference with the Titans falling to the Texans.
Tennessee will come to New England next Sunday. Even with its loss, it leads the conference at 8-3. The Patriots currently are the No. 3 seed.
Sunday is just another example of how unpredictable this season is in the NFL is.
