Tom Brady gives a little more detail on postgame conversation with Bill Belichick

After hugging on the field after Sunday's game, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady then spoke in the Buccaneers locker room for close to 20 minutes after the Patriots coach addressed reporters.

When Brady spoke to the media, he said what the two discussed was private, but then speaking with Peter King of NBC Sports, the Tampa Bay quarterback gave a little more detail.

“We’d known each other for 20-plus years, and when I left here, we just didn’t have a chance—he was out of town—to meet," Brady said. "When I went down to Tampa it was Covid. I was thinking about my season and so was he. It was just, we’ve known each other for a long time, and we didn’t have a chance to talk, and tonight we did, and it was great.”

This is a new minor detail that when Brady decided to leave New England and spoke to Belichick over the phone, it was because he was out of town. Not that he refused to meet in-person with his quarterback for 20 years.

King also shared that Brady's parents, wife, kids and extended family attended Sunday's game and "some tears were shed" in their private suite before the game.
