Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski are extremely close.
After rumors came out that the Patriots tried to trade the tight end to the Lions in 2018, Gronkowski said Brady is the only QB he'd play with.
“Brady’s my quarterback, that’s all. Wasn’t going anywhere without Brady," he said at the time.
Gronkowski retired following the 2018 season, but then once Brady signed with Tampa Bay last offseason, the tight end jumped at the opportunity to be reunited with his guy. He came out of retirement and was traded to the Buccaneers from the Patriots.
Speaking Thursday during Super Bowl media availability, Brady got a question from Gronkowski's girlfriend, Camille Kostek, and the quarterback went in-depth on his relationship with the tight end.
"He’s one of the most unique people, as you know, just being around him," he said. "He’s so positive. I think everybody wishes in their next life they come back as Rob just because he’s got such a great personality about him, just his way of being positive. He’s a real high achiever. He’s very competitive and I see the competitive nature, the determination — when you’re down and out, you want him with you. I think that speaks to him as a teammate, as a person and I love playing with him. I have known him for a long time and I am just so proud of his accomplishments. He’s an amazing guy.
"I know for both of us we rely on each other a lot for different things. I will be looking for him this Sunday, so that’s the most important thing.”
In four Super Bowl games, Gronkowski has 23 catches for 297 yards and three touchdowns.
