LeBron James has spent much of his career trying to achieve GOAT status, so it makes sense he was effusive with praise of Tom Brady following the quarterback’s seventh Lombardi Trophy.

“I’ve been watching [brady] for quite a whole now, and just to see hi go out and do the things that he’s done in his career, for him to win another one in the fashion that he won, it was pretty cool,” James said on Monday night following a 119-112 Lakers win over the Thunder.

“It’s very inspiring for a guy like myself. But two different sports, two different positions.”

James, like Brady, has reached his sport’s championship – the NBA Finals – 10 times in his career. Unlike Brady, James has come out on top just four of those times.

Brady’s latest Super Bowl ring with the Bucs comes at 43 years old as the quarterback continues to defy Father Time, winning his second Super Bowl since turning 40.

As James said, basketball is a much different sport, but the Lakers star is 36 years old and is still among the best in the game and will likely get a few more chances to possibly even catch Brady’s seven rings.

“I don’t know how long I’m going to play the game,” James said. “I don’t know how much more I’ll be able to give to the game. But the way I feel right now, we’ll see what happens. I have no timetable on it. I have no year of ‘Do I want to play until 30-this or 40-that?’ The game will let me know when it’s time. We’ll figure it out then.”

James is under contract with the Lakers through he 2022-23 season, which will bring him to his 20th season in the NBA.

Yet, James could make history and stick around long enough to play in the NBA with his son, Bronny.

“The year I’ll be a free agent will be the same year my oldest son graduates high school,” he said. “So, I’ll have some options to see, for me personally, what I want to do forward, being around my family, being around my son more or continue to play this game I love with great health and great spirits. We’ll see.”
