The Patriots are selecting No. 15 overall this year in the NFL draft, their highest position since 2008.

Obviously, the organization hasn't done well with its recent high picks in the draft, but will picking this high make a difference?

Appearing on Mut at Night Thursday, NBC Sports Boston's Tom E. Curran doesn't think so. He doesn't have much faith in them.

“No, I don’t because as it was suggested to me by one of the two people I have been talking to that I already mentioned, if they didn’t take [N’Keal] Harry they might have taken Joejuan [Williams]. I mean, he was that high on Joejuan Williams. No, I don’t have faith in them," he said. "I don’t start having faith until Day 3. I mean really, honestly. That is based on recent history. They do not do a bang-up job in the first couple of rounds. I don’t have a great deal of faith. I would rather see them add free agents. They are never going to bottom out and be a top 10 team. Bill [Belichick] is too good, as a game day coach.

"Their scouting staff is tiny right now. They’ve had so much turnover in the department. Their ability to scout right now because of the way the 2020 COVID season unfolded puts them behind the 8-ball. You can almost say they will be better off with less information. But, it’s kind of a system-wide failure and the only day that they show up and do a great job are game days and the week of preparation.”
