The Patriots’ lone touchdown scorer in Week 1 is going to be unavailable for at least the next four weeks. On Tuesday, the team announced Ty Montgomery has been placed on injured reserve.
Although the team didn’t state the details of Montgomery’s injury with the announcement, he had been dealing with a right knee issue. While this shouldn’t impact the ground game much, Montgomery’s absence could lead to additional targets for one or both of New England’s other two running backs — most likely Rhamondre Stevenson.
Following the move, the Pats signed Lil’Jordan Humphrey to the 53-man roster. In his 19 career NFL games, Humphrey has accrued 295 yards and three touchdowns on 16 catches.
Also, Marcus Cannon has been signed to the practice squad.
