The Patriots obviously did not land Matthew Stafford over the weekend, but they were interested.
According to MMQB's Albert Breer, the Patriots offered a second-round pick and a player for the veteran quarterback. The offer didn't really matter as Stafford reportedly did not list the Patriots on his list of preferred destinations.
Stafford was eventually traded from the Lions to the Rams in exchange for Jared Goff along with two future first-round picks and a third-round selection.
The Panthers offered the highest pick, No. 8 overall, but ultimately Detroit decided on L.A.
New England is still searching for its next quarterback, although its options are getting fewer and fewer by the day, particularly when it comes to proven veterans.
