FOXBOROUGH — Despite a strong NFL debut, Patriots rookie quarterback Mac Jones wasn’t in a good mood when he stepped to the podium following the 17-16 loss to the Dolphins.
Jones was all business and disappointed the team couldn’t come away with a win. He was also all business on the field during the game when he didn’t want to take the ball following his first career touchdown pass to Nelson Agholor.
“That doesn’t really matter. It’s one touchdown," Jones said. "We've got to score more. It’s not like the game was over right there. We gotta do better in the red zone and get more touchdowns. And we will.”
It did seem like the ball made it to the sidelines and eventually will get back to Jones.
The No. 15 overall pick finished 29-for-39 passing for 281 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions.
Now that he has his first touchdown out of the way he will look to pick up his first win next Sunday in New Jersey against the Jets.
