Why Patriots, fans should be 'pissed off' at NFL

The NFL plowed ahead with Monday night's Patriots-Chiefs game despite Cam Newton's positive COVID-19 test and the possibility that the virus could spread to other players.

Sure enough, since then the Patriots have had to put two more players on the COVID list -- practice squad defensive tackle Bill Murray on Tuesday and star cornerback Stephon Gilmore on Wednesday.

There is of course the possibility of more positive tests going forward given that the incubation period for the virus can be five or more days, a lesson that is continuing to be learned with the ongoing spread through the Tennessee Titans.

Dale and Keefe opened Wednesday's show by ripping the NFL for prioritizing playing the game over player safety.

"If you're a football fan, if you're a sports fan, specifically in this instance if you're a Patriots fan, you should be so pissed off at the National Football League right now," Dale Arnold said. "You should be so pissed off at Roger Goodell and the rest of the NFL owners who don't give a damn about a single player in the NFL, don't give a damn about anything except their big bucks television contracts. They put the lives of players and their families at risk, and they knew damn well what they were doing."

"Fingers crossed. The NFL, that was their strategy this week," added Rich Keefe. "Fingers crossed. 'Oh, two days of no positives, you're fine. Get on a COVID tube and head down to Kansas City and everything will be fine.'"
