Eagles reportedly will trade Carson Wentz soon, will Patriots be interested?

Another big-name quarterback will be on the move.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen, the Eagles are expected to trade Carson Wentz in the coming days.

In terms of what they are looking for in return, the report says "a Matthew Stafford package." Detroit got Jared Goff along with two first-round picks and a third-round pick for Stafford last weekend. Given Goff's contract, it's likely Stafford's value alone was a first and third-round pick and since he's younger, the Eagles could be looking for more for Wentz.

Because of Wentz's contract, it wouldn't be a surprise if the Eagles attached a draft pick or two in a trade as well.

The report also adds the Bears and Colts have expressed interest, while other teams have called to see what an asking price would look like.

So, will the Patriots, who need a quarterback, be interested?

It's certainly likely they checked in on the asking price, but given they reportedly were only willing to offer a second-round pick for Stafford, it's unlikely they would be able to offer the best deal to Philadelphia for Wentz.

The 28-year-old seems to be a better option than Derek Carr, who came up in trade talks this week, but in the end it feels like the Patriots aren't going to overpay for a quarterback that isn't franchise-altering.

This seems to be only the beginning of what should be a crazy offseason in terms of quarterback movement across the league.
