Our avid readers/listeners and Patreon subscribers may recall that whole Disney-esque marketing campaign I hawked last week--something about reinvention, killing the past, etc. Well, screw that, because WE ARE BACK. Sure we may be guilty of patting ourselves on the back every time we do anything right (or describing how the thing we did wrong was actually not our fault), but after this week it’s looking like a bright future for the Winners’ Club.
Here's how we (34-28-1 on the year) did this week:
Mut (2-0-1 on the week) might be the first person Baker Mayfield has ever done a nice thing for as Mayfield’s game-winning TD pass clinched the...oh never mind, this was a push. But Mut’s early pick of the TEN/PIT over prior to any line movement shenanigans over the weekend turned out well for him, as did betting against a Patriots team that couldn’t set the edge if it had a turntable and a vinyl copy of U2’s Rattle and Hum. (12-8-1 on the year)
Scheim (3-0 on the week) cashed in on the play of some monster offenses as he hit the over in both the early line on TEN/PIT as well as SEA/ARI. Betting on Aaron Rodgers coming off a bad week was a great call too. (13-8 on the year)
I (2-1 on the week) finally bounced back thanks to the Mayfield-Burrow shootout and Tom Brady making the Raiders walk the metaphorical plank. But it turns out my friend is my enemy as Kyle Shanahan just didn’t give the Patriots any daylight on a dark day in Foxboro as the basement-level over in Patriots-49ers went under. (9-12 on the year)
As I said, we have been guilty of patting ourselves on the back. We will not do that this week, Instead, we’ll keep our heads down and keep picking winners. Here are our picks for Week 8:
