The Winners' Club is off to a slow start in the 2020 NFL season with most of the blame being directed toward Chris Scheim and his 0-3 week. Luckily John and Mut picked up the slack and the show went 4-5 in the first week of the NFL season.
Here's the recap:
— As did many others, Mut missed on the Buccaneers covering the +3.5 spread in Tom Brady's debut against the Saints. But if you went with Mut's advice to take the Bills -6.5 against the Jets and the Seahawks -2 against the falcons, then you have a couple extra dimes in your pocket.
After months of unprecedented success, Scheim's luck finally regressed as he missed all three of his picks, most notably the Miami/New England over due to N'Keal Harry's fumble and Dalas -3 at the Los Angeles Rams potentially due to the controversial Michael Gallup OPI call.
I flexed my hypothetical muscles as the Jaguars not only covered the spread but beat the Colts in an upset win and Aaron Rodgers' big day against the Vikings to result in an upset. I did miss on Carolina +3.5 versus the Raiders, and I'm sure I won't make the mistake of picking them again.
