Alex Cora was back talking with the Red Sox (at least for a few days).
According to a source, the former Red Sox manager met with Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom and general manager Brian O'Halloran Friday to discuss the Sox' vacant manager position. The Boston Globe was first to report the meeting.
Cora is one of five finalists for the job, joining Sam Fuld, James Rowson, Don Kelly and Carlos Mendoza.
The Globe report states that the Red Sox proceeded to meet with one of the other candidates in-person Monday.
It remains unclear how Bloom views Cora's candidacy, with the two having worked together just a couple of months prior to the former Red Sox' manager's one-year suspension.
The Red Sox are the only team still without a manager, with the White Sox having hired Tony La Russa and A.J. Hinch getting the job in Detroit.
