If you want to include Franchy Cordero being thrust into the leadoff spot after Enrique Hernandez's hamstring injury on May 4, the Red Sox have had six different players man the lineup's top spot.
But up until this past weekend, if Hernandez was playing he was the leadoff hitter. But starting Saturday, that changed with Danny Santana getting the call with Hernandez moving down to the seventh spot.
Monday, another player gets a chance to leadoff with Hernandez remaining toward the bottom of the order.
Christian Arroyo hits first for the Red Sox in their makeup game against the Marlins Monday, marking the seventh time he has manned the top spot. In 25 previous plate appearances as a leadoff hitter, the second baseman is hitting .292 with a .737 OPS.
The following is the lineup Red Sox manager Alex Cora will be rolling out against Miami:
Christian Arroyo 2B
Alex Verdugo LF
Xander Bogaerts SS
Rafael Devers DH
Hunter Renfroe RF
Marwin Gonzalez 3B
Kevin Plawecki C
Enrique Hernandez CF
Bobby Dalbec 1B
Other members of the Red Sox who have hit leadoff besides Hernandez and Arroyo include Marwin Gonzalez (7 games), Santana (5 games), and Michael Chavis (4 games).
The Red Sox carry the fourth-worst on-base percentage out of the leadoff spot in Major League Baseball.
