The Daniel Bard 2020 story is incredible one.
And now it is being recognized thanks to a prestigious award.
Bard has been named the National League Comeback Player of the Year.
The 35-year-old is coming off a season with the Rockies in which he appeared in 23 games, finishing with a 3.65 ERA along with six saves. But what made the performance so remarkable was it marked the first time the former Red Sox had been on a major league mound since 2013 at Fenway Park.
Bard, who actually retired before returning to baseball in 2020, talked at length about his comeback on a recent edition of the Bradfo Sho podcast, detailing the lowest points of his time with the Red Sox and in the subsequent years.
