Being the star of the Los Angeles Dodgers will usually get you some pretty famous friends in Hollywood. Just ask Mookie Betts.

The Dodgers outfielder was mic’d up for ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball this weekend and was asked about who some of his most famous friends are in town.

Betts was reluctant to share much info on that, but revealed one celebrity will often show up to his house at 2 a.m.: Nelly.

“One of my good friends since I came out here has been Nelly,” Betts said. “…Nelly, he comes over the house at 2 o’clock in the morning. We shoot pool. He’s a competitor.”

But why so late?

“That’s when his day starts,” Betts said. “You stay up and I just take my nap at the field.”

Betts also said NBA star Chris Paul is his neighbor and the two are good friends, although the Dodgers star has not played him one-on-one.

“We have bowled and that didn’t end too well for him,” Betts added.

Betts said if Paul does ask to play basketball against him he’d do it just to see how far he could go against him.

“He’s 38, something like that?” Betts said. “I don’t think that really matters but maybe I could run around him a bit. Probably not.”
