It's going to be a while before Marcelo Mayer enters Major League Baseball. But that doesn't mean all eyes will be on each of his stops along the way.
Mayer, the fourth overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, made his professional debut with the Florida Complex League Red Sox Thursday. Playing shortstop and hitting third, the Sox' top selection impressed with his plate discipline, walking his first three times to the plate.
The 18-year-old Mayer also impressed in the field.
