Garrett Crochet makes the Red Sox Wild Card roster

NEW YORK - Garrett Crochet has won his race against time.

Having not pitched since the day before Chad Tracy took over as Red Sox manager, on April 25, Crochet will return to the mound for the Red Sox in the team's best-of-three wild-card round against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. The lefty hasn't faced any batters since that game in Baltimore, having only conducted live batting-practice side sessions at Fenway Park, Polar Park in Worcester, and, most recently, in Fort Myers, Fla.

Crochet was part of the 26-man roster announced by the Red Sox Tuesday morning prior to their Game 1 showdown with the Yankees.

Also of note was the Red Sox deciding not to activate speedster Braiden Ward, who had joined the team in New York for Monday's workout. Making the team was Nate Eaton, who joined the Red Sox for the final game of the regular season. Lefty reliever Jovani Moran was also left off the roster, with Alec Gamboa filling that spot.

From the Yankees' side, Aaron Judge will not be activated for the wild-card round due to his calf injury, while Giancarlo Stanton, who last played on April 24, will be on the New York roster.
