Jarren Duran has had a tough introduction to the big leagues. What happened to him in his second at-bat Saturday was a bit of insult to injury.
After taking a slider from Cleveland starter Cal Quantrill, Duran regrouped for the next pitch. But while contemplating the next offering, the Red Sox' hitter was struck in the helmet with an inadvertant toss back from Indians catcher Austin Hedges.
Duran stood seemingly somewhat amazed at what happened, with Hedges reaching out with an apologetic gesture.
The Sox leadoff hitter would strikeout on the next pitch.
