The breakout season of Jarren Duran just broke.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said prior to Tuesday night's game with the Astros that Duran's season has come to end in due to a severe case of turf toe. It's an injury that will require surgery.
Duran, who last appeared in a game on Aug. 20, finishes the 2023 season hitting. 295 with an .828 OPS, hitting eight home runs and stealing 24 bases.
Sliding into Duran's role figures to be rookie Ceddanne Rafaela, who was getting his first big league start Tuesday night.
