Phillies fans could get used to this sight.
The former Red Sox slugger Kyle Schwarber turned heads on social media on Sunday, after leading off his team's Grapefruit League game against the Detroit Tigers with an absolute moonshot of a home run.
The majestic blast -- reportedly hit into the teeth of a strong wind blowing in from right field at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, Florida -- sailed clear out of stadium, and appeared to land perilously close to the southbound span of US Highway 19, which is situated a short distance from the right-field bleachers.
The moonshot came off the bat at a blistering 113 mph, and was estimated to have traveled 446 feet.
"That ball is crushed," said NBC Sports Philly play-by-play man Tom McCarthy on the call. "Wow! That is way out of here. That's one of the longest home runs you'll see, here at BayCare Ballpark. ..."
"US-19, we have a problem," joked analyst John Kruk. "Wow."
The round-tripper was the second of the spring for Schwarber, now in his first season with the Phillies after signing a four-year, $79 million deal last month. He clubbed 32 homers last season while splitting time between the Nationals and Red Sox, including a blistering run in which he tied an MLB record with 12 home runs in 10 games.
