-- Hall of Famer and Celtics legend Jo Jo White has died, it was announced on Tuesday. He was 71.
Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald was the first to report the news.
"Just received a call from one of JoJo White's old teammates to say the Celtic legend has passed away at 71 after his battle with cancer," Bulpett tweeted. "A 2015 Hall of Fame inductee, JoJo was a seven-time All-Star and MVP of the 1976 Finals. No. 10 is retired in his honor."
White spent 10 seasons with the Celtics, won two NBA titles in Boston and was the 1976 Finals MVP. His No. 10 was retired by the team and he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015. White finished his career with the Warriors and the Kansas City Kings.
White's family and the Celtics released statements on his passing.

His contributions to the team's championship legacy may have only been surpassed by the deep and lasting impact that he had in the community. The thoughts and sympathies of the entire Celtics organization are with the White family."

— NBA (@NBA) January 17, 2018-- Jerry Remy shared some good news about his cancer battle on Tuesday, saying he is finished with chemo and his five weeks of radiation.
It started in June with surgery chemo and 5 weeks of radiation. It ended today. Finished. Thanks to the team at MGH and the support I got from many people. To my co-patients stay strong. Remy underwent surgery for lung cancer on June 26 before starting chemo and radiation. He has battled lung cancer on and off since 2008.
