And now, the starting lineup for your…New Boston Met Sox?
In an alliance that Yankees fans everywhere will scoff at, the Mets and Red Sox’s official Twitter accounts have apparently decided to team up to get their players voted into the MLB All-Star Game as starters:
The Mets have Pete Alonso and Starling Marte as their two finalists for All-Star starting nods, while Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers is up against Cleveland’s Jose Ramirez for the AL’s starting third baseman job.
The Yankees also have two finalists, catcher Jose Trevino and Giancarlo Stanton, but do we see them teaming up with the Phillies? Well, no, because Philly's lone finalist, Bryce Harper, isn't going to play anyway, but the point remains that the 1986 World Series is apparently long gone and forgotten thanks to this new endeavor. And even more ironic: one of the other NL finalists in the outfield is ex-Red Sox star Mookie Betts.
How fitting then, would it be, if the winning run of the All-Star Game comes by Devers hitting one through Alonso’s legs?
