Nathan Eovaldi will not be available for the Red Sox again until September. The right-hander was placed on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday due to shoulder inflammation, although the move was retroactive to August 19.
Eric Hosmer will also be out for a while. The Red Sox put their first baseman on the 10-day IL due to low back inflammation. The move is retroactive to August 21.
Josh Winckowski will take Eovaldi’s spot on the roster in the interim and start Tuesday’s game. Franchy Cordero was also promoted from Triple-A and will be in the starting lineup against the Blue Jays.
