Both Rafael Devers and J.D. Martinez aren’t available for the Red Sox following Friday night’s embarrassing loss. The same back spasms that led to Martinez being a late scratch on Friday are what will keep him out on Saturday. Alex Cora said Boston’s DH will be back Sunday or Monday.
Devers, however, will be out longer.
As if Friday’s game wasn’t bad enough, that poor showing also featured a Devers injury. In his final at-bat of the night, Devers felt something in his right hamstring. The team has deemed his injury as right hamstring inflammation.
As a result, the Red Sox have placed Devers on the 10-day injured list. Outfielder Jaylin Davis was called up in a corresponding move.
Additionally, Kike Hernandez has been transferred to the 60-day injured list.
