The Red Sox have been officially been hit by COVID-19.
First came news Saturday that J.D. Martinez had joined teammate Jarren Duran on the COVID-19 injured list, with no additional details as to if either player had contracted the virus.
Then, per a team source, it is learned that bench coach Will Venable has tested positive for COVID-19, leading to his absence from the Red Sox' doubleheader with the Blue Jays.
Red Sox first base coach Tom Goodwin was also not in attendance Saturday after being deemed as having close contact with Venable. Ramon Vazquez took over first base coaching duties.
