The Red Sox announced Monday they have swung a deal with Cleveland for veteran pitcher Brad Peacock, sending the Indians cash considerations.
The deal could be made because Peacock was pitching under a minor-league deal with Cleveland, who had been using the righty with Triple-A Columbus.
With Columbus, the 33-year-old had made 10 starts (11 appearances), totaling a 7.68 ERA in 34 innings. Prior to this season he had exclusively pitched for Houston with the exception of his rookie year n 2011 when he performed for Washington.
Peacock had played significant roles in some of Houston's postseason runs, serving as one of the Astros most depended on relievers in 2018 (61 appearances) after making 21 starts for the 2017 club.
In 2019, Peacock evolved back into the rotation, making 15 of his 23 appearances as a starter.
