After signing a massive deal with the Red Sox in 2014, Rusney Castillo finally became a free agent this offseason.
On Saturday, Castillo officially joined a new team, but not in Major League Baseball.
Castillo signed with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of Nippon Professional Baseball (Japan).
The outfielder appeared on just 99 major league games, and just nine after 2015, hitting .262 with seven home runs. With the Triple-A PawSox in 2019, he hit .278 with 17 homers and 64 RBI.
