The Jarren Duran optimism goes to another level after this weekend

This might change Jarren Duran's position on the Red Sox' depth chart, but it can't hurt.

The outfielder -- ranked as the Sox' No. 5 prospect by Baseball America -- won the MVP for Caguas in the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente Final Series. Duran homered for his club in their 7-6, series-clinching win Sunday.

It was Duran's second homer of the series, which proved to be a four-game sweep from Caguas (which was managed by Red Sox coach Ramon Vazquez). In the four games the 24-year-old 5-for-15 with two homers, two doubles, six RBIs and seven runs.

Duran's role with the Red Sox for 2021 is still uncertain, with the three starters currently projected as Andrew Benintendi, Hunter Renfroe and Alex Verdugo. J.D. Martinez, Michael Chavis and newly-acquired Kiké Hernandez also are in the mix.
