The Triston Casas era in Worcester is off to an excellent start.
The left-handed slugger belted an opposite-field home run in his first Triple-A game Thursday, sending a pitch from Cade Cavalli deep to left.
It was almost certainly a harbinger of things to come.
Casas was great with Double-A Portland this season, smacking 13 home runs and slashing .284/.395/.484 in 329 plate appearances. The 2018 first-round pick was also the star of Team USA during the Olympic Games. He led the club with three home runs and eight RBI.

With roughly one week left in the season, Casas won’t see a lot of time at Triple-A this year. But it sets him up nicely for next year, when he’ll likely be expected to reach the big leagues.
The Red Sox could be on the cusp of finding their next middle-of-the-order threat. If all goes according to plan, the Casas era in Worcester may not last very long.
It will soon move about 47 miles east.
