First it was Bruins fans. Then Celtics fans. And finally on Friday, Red Sox fans joined the party and were welcomed home.
After more than a year and a half away, Red Sox Nation returned, albeit a day late, to America’s Most Beloved Ballpark, on a sunny spring day that felt a bit wintry. And while it’s entirely surreal to know it’s Opening Day and yet see empty streets and available seats at the local watering holes, there’s no mistaking the joy of live sports and the impact it has on the fans.
Sure, we all made the joke that maybe it was best fans weren’t allowed in Fenway last season. But it’s a different year, different team, yet the passion is still there. That emotional connection Red Sox fans have to their team was on full display today, limited capacity of not.
Watch as Sox fans return (unlike their offense), and vicariously enjoy the stories, smiles, sights and sounds from outside Friendly Fenway on a chilly April Friday. Play ball!
