Adam Ottavino will never be able to prove whether he can really strike out Babe Ruth every time, but the newly acquired Yankees reliever has proven he can laugh at himself.
In a new commercial released by the Yankees on Friday, Ottavino is transported back in time and is on the mound facing Ruth.
"Did I really say I could strike Babe Ruth out every time?" Ottavino thinks to himself in the grainy, black-and-white ad. "He's so much bigger in person. He's currently hitting .370? And why is right field so short?"

Before signing a three-year, $27 million contract with the Yankees, Ottavino made the comment about Ruth on MLB.com's "Statcast Podcast" while trying to explain how much the game and its players have evolved.
In an interview earlier this month with WFAN's Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts, Ottavino conceded "it was a stupid thing to say."
"I think if I would have used a different name than the one and only Babe Ruth, I think it would've went unnoticed, for sure," the Brooklyn native said.
