All hope is not lost for the Knicks and their chances of trying to acquire Pelicans forward Anthony Davis. The All-Star big man would reportedly sign long-term with only four teams and the Knicks are on that list, according to The Athletic.
Davis would sign a long-term extension with the Knicks, Lakers, Bucks and Clippers. The Knicks are still considered a long shot, though. The Lakers appear to be the favorites and a deal could end up happening this week before Thursday's 3 p.m. trade deadline. According to ESPN, the Lakers have sent the Pelicans a deal that might intrigue them more than their past offer.
The Lakers have offered a new package to New Orleans that includes multiple young players, multiple draft picks and Pelicans salary cap relief for Anthony Davis, league sources tell ESPN. The offer appears to move closer to the objectives that the Pelicans are pursuing in a deal.

New Orleans rejected the Knicks on a Porzingis offer recently, and likely don't have the assets to gain the Pelicans' interest unless they defy the odds on a 12 percent chance in the draft lottery to get the No. 1 overall pick in the June draft.
