The NBA got it right the second time around.

After originally being passed over, Nets breakout guard D'Angelo Russell has been selected by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to replace Victor Oladipo as a reserve in the All-Star Game.

Russell is a big reason why the Nets are much improved and have risen to sixth place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 28-25. The 22-year-old is averaging 19.6 points and 6.4 assists per game this season, while shooting 43.8 percent from the field and 37.4 percent from the three-point line.

Russell is the first Net to appear in the All-Star Game since Joe Johnson in 2014.

The Eastern Conference starters will be Kemba Walker, Kyrie Irving, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard and Joel Embiid. Stephen Curry, James Harden, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Paul George will start for the Western Conference.

The All-Star Game will be played in Charlotte on Feb. 17.
