The Islanders' wait for their second-round opponent in the Stanley Cup playoffs is now over. They will take on the Carolina Hurricanes, who stunned the Capitals in a double-OT thriller in Game 7 on Wednesday night.
It will be a quick turnaround for the Hurricanes, as Game 1 will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Game 2 is Sunday in Brooklyn at 3 p.m. The series will head to Raleigh for Game 3 on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Game 4 is May 3 at 7 p.m.
Here's the full Eastern Conference semifinals schedule: Game 1 - Friday 4/27 @ 7pm, BrooklynGame 2 - Sunday 4/29 @ 3pm, BrooklynGame 3 - Wednesday 5/1 @ 7pm, RaleighGame 4 - Friday 5/3 @ 7pm, RaleighGame 5* - Sunday 5/5 TBD, BrooklynGame 6* - Tuesday 5/7 TBD, RaleighGame 7* - Wednesday 5/8 TBD, Brooklyn *if necessary
The Islanders were 3-1 against the Hurricanes this season, but none of those wins came after Thanksgiving. They also haven't played each other since Jan. 8, so there isn't too much to look into from their regular season matchups.
The Isles have home-ice advantage on their side, although it comes in Brooklyn and not on Long Island. The winner of this series will take on the winner of the Blue Jackets-Bruins series in the Eastern Conference finals.
