Jets wide receiver Quincy Enunwa is close to returning to full health after a neck injury sidelined him for the entire 2017 season.

Enunwa is in good spirits and believes he could be ahead of schedule.

"It feels good," he told reporters at the Gridiron Gala held by the United Way on Tuesday night. "It's as 100 (percent) as I'm supposed to be. I'm probably ahead of schedule, but I'm doing everything with the guys, running routes, catching the ball. There's really no setbacks right now."

The 25-year-old wideout sustained the injury during last year's training camp. On May 22, the Jets will begin organized team activities. Enunwa is hoping that he'll be given the green light to participate.

"I think I'll be able to go," he said. "I think we'll be smart about it. I think I'm going to go out there and do what I need to do. I've been able to run for a long time. It hasn't really been a hindrance. I don't have medical knowledge, but I feel like this injury compared to a knee is a little bit easier to come back from. The worst part about it is, if you don't heal all the way, then hits are bad. But just in terms of physically being able to play, I've been able to do that for a while.

"As soon as I'm 100 percent, there's no great risk," he continued. "Obviously, I'm a football player, so there's going to be a risk. I can't come into the game and be like, 'I won't ever get hurt again.' But the risk is not ... it's there, but I can play."

Enunwa is excepted to be leaned on as a go-to receiver for Gang Green in 2018. The former Nebraska standout caught 58 balls for 857 yards and four touchdowns in 2016.
