Newly acquired Brooklyn Net Kenneth Faried was arrested in Bridgehampton Sunday morning and charged with being in possession of marijuana, according to 27east, a Hamptons news site.

The Nets are aware of the arrest and issued the following statement: "We are aware of the situation involving Kenneth Faried and are in the process of gathering more information at this time."

Southampton Town Police told 27east that Faried was the rear passenger of a vehicle that was stopped during a sobriety checkpoint on Montauk Highway at 1:30 a.m., and was found to be in possession of more than two ounces of marijuana.

Faired was arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

According to the police report, Faried's cash was seized and he was released on $500 bail.

Town Police were unable to specify how much money was seized or what circumstances led to the money being seized. No additional details were available Tuesday morning.

The Nets acquired Faried last month in a salary dump with the Nuggets, receiving a protected 2019 first round pick, an unprotected 2020 second round pick and forward Darrell Arthur (who has since been traded for Jared Dudley) for Isaiah Whitehead.

Faried is coming off the worst season of his seven-year career, having averaged just 5.9 points and 4.8 rebounds in 14.4 minutes per game for the Nuggets last year. He is owed $13.7 million this season.
