MIAMI (WFAN) - It looks like the Jets can cross another candidate off their list for possible Todd Bowles replacements.
Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley told reporters on Thursday that he will not move to the NFL anytime soon.
“I can’t tell you how I’m gonna feel in 10 years, but no, not right now,” said Riley, when asked about his possible interest in turning pro. “If I wasn’t at one of the elite programs in the country, maybe, but no, I’m very happy where I’m at right now."
Riley has been the head coach at Oklahoma for two seasons now. In those two years, the Sooners have gone 24-3 with two Big 12 Championships and two appearances in the College Football Playoff.
The 35-year-old was named Big 12 Coach of the Year this season after leading Oklahoma to the nation's highest-scoring offense.
“If it was 20, 30 years ago, where there were some major differences, maybe. …" said the Sooners head coach. "The way the college game has evolved, financially it’s a lot better situation now when you compare it to NFL teams. We’re at a place where we’re happy, and we don’t take that for granted. I love coaching at Oklahoma, love coaching college football.”
Riley is credited for his role in molding both Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray into Heisman Trophy winners.
Oklahoma will take on Alabama Saturday in the Capital One Orange Bowl.
